SPD asking for public’s assistance in identifying suspect who abandoned guns and drugs in stolen vehicle
On January 12th, 2023, SPD officers responded to a shoplifting incident at a business in the 2400 block of N Division St. Store employees observed the suspect leave the store with stolen items and proceed to a vehicle in the parking lot. When the store employees attempted to contact the male regarding the theft, he fled on foot.
Officers arrived and discovered the vehicle the suspect fled from was stolen. SPD’s Stolen Property Enforcement and Recovery (SPEAR) detectives executed a search warrant on the car and discovered numerous items of evidentiary value. Six total firearms were located inside: five handguns and a semi-automatic rifle. At least two of the handguns and the rifle had been reported stolen. Officers also found a stolen electronic bike valued at over 10k. Thousands of pills, suspected to contain fentanyl and disguised as prescription medication, were also discovered along with suspected methamphetamine and cocaine.
Pictured are some of the items recovered from the vehicle. Of particular concern are the colored pills which are suspected to contain fentanyl. The colorful markings can both disguise their true content and make them particularly appealing to children.
SPD Detectives are looking to identify the pictured suspect. If you have information about his identity or whereabouts, please contact Sergeant Eckersley at beckersley@spokanepolice.org.
