There’s a hotspot in downtown Spokane that draws hundreds of visitors but, doesn’t serve food or drinks.

“Well, we mostly serve up STEAM education. That’s science, technology, engineering, arts and math. And, we do that through hands-on play, dynamic exhibits, outreach experiences for schools and students and, family fun for everyone,” explained Amanda Currie of the Mobius Discovery Center.

What was once the Mobius Children’s Museum has found a new home just across the street from Numerica Skate Ribbon in Riverfront Park.

“We decided to bring everyone under one roof. We kept all the best exhibits, the cream of the crop, everyone’s favorites. You can find them here, all in one location,” Currie said of the recent consolidation.

And, despite really cool hands-on exhibits, like The Water Table, it’s hard to tell who’s happier to be at Mobius: the kids, their parents or, their grandparents.

“It’s real educational. My grandson loves it. This is something he probably does two or three times a year, with his mom and dad, and all of us,” said grandparent Pam Jacobs.

The Mobius Discovery Center is also one-stop shopping when you’re in the market for that unique birthday gift.

The price of admission buys a day-full of fun.

“Our daily admission is good all day until five o’clock. And, it’s really popular so families can come back and have lunch or, go to the park and come back, and get to what they weren’t able to earlier,” emphasized Currie.

Reconstruction of the Post Street Bridge has made it a little harder to get to the Discovery Center.

The City of Spokane is hanging up signs on Post Street in the hopes of putting Mobius on the map.

“So, we always say that ‘Mobius is a place where kids play to learn, and parents learn to play’, because it really enriches the experience when the parents, or guardians, are playing right there alongside with the kids. Our staff and volunteers help out with that, and really like to think that Mobius is a safe place to play,” added Currie.

The Mobius Discovery Center, at 331 N. Post Street, is open Wednesday through Sunday.
