Episode 3 of the Talking Trash Podcast

Most of us have never heard about anaerobic digestion, but Kathlyn Kinney is more than familiar. In between studying for her college courses, Ms. Kinney called up anaerobic digester companies to find out if she could heat campus buildings at Western Washington University with the food waste that wasn’t getting composted in the cafeterias.

While she may not have accomplished that goal as a student, it ultimately led her on the track to her starting her own business—Biomethane, LLC—that provides information to municipalities on implementing renewable natural gas systems.

Renewable natural gas helps to conserve natural resources, reduce pollution, and provide a sustainable source of revenue for municipalities. Ms. Kinney is a forward-thinking, innovative entrepreneur who combines her expertise with environmental science, business, and building relationships to help power Spokane’s renewable energy future!

Give this podcast a listen and deepen your knowledge of solid waste management, renewable energy, and how the two are interconnected. To listen to the podcast and check out other waste reduction information, go to our Solid Waste webpage.
