Aquatic Assistant Swim Coach

FIND WORK THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE!The City of Spokane's Aquatics Program seeks friendly and motivated team members looking for a fun way to serve the community! Assistant to the Head swim coach for the City of Spokane Aqua ducks swim team. Position runs from mid-June to mid-August including evening swim meets. Work schedules will vary between early mornings to midafternoon between Comstock, Shadle, and Witter Aquatics center. Duties include but are not limited to the supervision of all swim team participants, developing seasonal goals, workouts, hosting swim meets, data entering with Meet Manager. This position will also assist with any maintenance and custodial duties along with keeping records and reports.Desired skills include: Ability to work individually and as a team member Interest and ability to work with children and have the ability to work with swimmers of all levels Have excellent communication skills [ability  to answer phones, and speak with public] and decision-making skills Thorough knowledge and application of facility rules and policies Experience with computers and using HY-Tek Meet Manager software preferredPart-time 10 - 20 hours per week

This position pays $14.90 per Hour

Aquatic Lifeguard

FIND WORK THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE!The City of Spokane's Aquatics Program seeks friendly and motivated team members looking for a fun way to serve the community! Responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Lifeguards must recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations. Enforce all facility rules and regulations. Inspect facility on a regular basis and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to pool management. Complete records and reports. Participate in regular in-service trainings. Maintain appropriate fitness level. Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.Desired skills include: Have excellent communication skills, decision-making skills, confidently speak with the public and answer phones Thorough knowledge and application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies and proceduresPart-time up to 40 hours per week.Season typically runs June through August.

Aquatic Swim Instructor

WSI are responsible for assisting with routine pool maintenance and custodial duties and other tasks as assigned by supervisors. Work schedules will vary. Reports to Facility Managers; Aquatic Supervisory Staff.Desired skills include: Have excellent communication skills [ability to answer phones, and speak with public] and decision-making skills Thorough knowledge and application of teaching styles in coordination with ARC Standards. An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies and proceduresPart-time up to 40 hours per week. Season typically runs June through August.

Aquatics Water Aerobics Instructor

Employee will plan, coordinate, and teach all aspects of classes offered. Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills are essential to this position. Classes are offered at various work locations such as Shadle, Hillyard, and Witter aquatic centers. Reports to Facility Managers; Aquatic Supervisory Staff.Desired skills include: Excellent communication and time management skills Ability to instruct patrons on effective workout methods; explain proper techniques, demonstrate exercises; identify different muscle groups, and teach appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles. Thorough knowledge and application of teaching styles in coordination with certified organization standardsPart-time 10 - 20 hours per week. Season typically runs June through August.

This position pays $18.00 per Hour

Streets Temp Seasonal

The employee in this position will be responsible for performing semi-skilled manual work in various Streets departments. Duties are routine requiring some independent judgment in making minor decisions. Employee will be responsible for assisting the sealing crack crew with various tasks, shoveling asphalt, flagging, cutting weeds and driving six (6) wheel dump trucks primarily for the asphalt crew when needed.   Employee may have contact with other than immediate associates and the public.  Duties are very heavy in nature requiring considerable physical activity, and are performed under hazardous or adverse weather conditions.BEHAVIORAL STANDARDSRespectful, courteous, and friendly to customers, other City employees, and City leadership. A person in this position will perform semi-skilled work installing, maintaining, and operating sprinkler systems.  This work is heavy in nature, performed in varying weather conditions, and requires normal attention to prevent errors.
